Pearlware Oddfellows/Masonic Jug
Description:
Fantastic Pearlware Jug, decorated in bold pratt colours, of Oddfellows & Masonic interest. Named & Dated "John Foster" 1837. This striking jug carries numerous sayings and a verse, and many of the emblems & symbols associated with Masonic orders. Large figures of "Faith" & "Hope" are seen either side, and the sayings "Fear God Honour the King" and "Love your Bretheren" adorn the top band. The main verse, under the spout, reads "May every oddfellow improve the tallant given, our lamps with oil prepare, that we may scale the mount of heaven eternal bliss to share, May all oddfellows gain a station, Serenity, pure and soft in that Eternal Habitation Securely Built a Loft"
