ABOUT MEARS & BOYER
Ivan and David began trading as “Mears and Boyer” in 1985, specialising in English, Welsh and Scottish pottery from the 18th and 19th Centuries, with a particular interest in bocage and Victorian Staffordshire figures. For the first fifteen years, our base was London’s Portobello Road, and we had a presence at many Antique fairs both at home and in the United States. During those years we developed many lasting friendships with trade and private customers in both countries.
We left Portobello Road in 2000 and began concentrating our business supplying direct to our many regular customers. Ivan retired from the Antique business in 2010. Never one to sit still, he started a new chapter of his life growing and selling an array of unusual plants and exhibits at a few specialist plant fairs each year. He still retains a keen interest in the world of Antique ceramics. David carries on the “Mears and Boyer” name at a few select Antique fairs each year, details of which can be found on this website. He also runs the showroom located in our village in North Buckinghamshire where our ever changing merchandise can be viewed by appointment.
With the addition of two new puppies, David is temporarily travelling to fewer Antique events. Our newly refreshed website will give us the opportunity to list more items for sale with greater regularity than in the past hectic years.
We are committed to giving a personal service, with care and attention given from purchase to delivery and we are happy to share our knowledge of Antique pottery relevant to our specialist field. All of our items are guaranteed for age, authenticity and any restorations are duly noted. We carefully pack each item ourselves and use Federal Express as our carrier of choice to the United States.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or to locate a specific item.
